At the age of 16 I started working in an office environment after studying business studies at college it just seemed to be the natural step to make. I spent many years in various departments fromaccounts to sales and eventually felt I needed a change of direction. I was introduced to Reiki in 1996 when I started attending a local Reiki share group with a friend and found that it helped me through some difficult times. Gemma qualified with a BTEC level 5 in Sports and Remedial Massage back in June 2012 from the London School of Sports Massage. Gemma had an unfortunate car accident in December 2010, after this Gemmaexplored many different options of treatment, but massage was the one that worked for her. She was soon back in working order and also prevented her from having to give up her beloved Archery. Gemma has been practicing ever since and now runs her successful practice in Barns Green, near Horsham.
A growing interest in maternity reflexology led me to train under Renée Tanner, Founder of the International Federation of Reflexologists, and Ann Ellis, a practising NHS midwife, to gain arecognised qualification as a maternity reflexologist. Further to this I have completed specialist training in fertility and spinal issues, also under Renée Tanner, and Facial Reflexology under Kristine Walker.
When I was 18 I was in a car crash that left me with whiplash. A few years later, the changes that developed in my cervical spine (neck) caused me such great pain that I had to stop exercising andcould no longer continue my desk job. Every area of my life was soon affected and the tablets the doctor prescribed were not helping. He referred me for x-rays on the NHS that (worryingly) came back normal. After 4 months of agony, he tried to prescribe me antidepressants.

I first saw Sam for a tight lower back that was continuously bothering me as I sat at my desk. I was impressed at how thorough he was and how quickly he got to the root at the problem, also solving myheadaches along the way. I had been suffering from them for the past 2 years and had assumed that it was just something I would learn to live with. I will continue to see Sam for any future problems and feel safe in his care.
Maternity leave update. Rowan has been so much easier for the last couple of months, he hasn't been screaming all day long and he is now crawling which is giving him a new found independance.Saying this he is still very sensitive and doesn't like to be away from me for long. I hope to be back at work around the time he's a year old.
Karen used her knowledge from her extensive performance career, as well as her own experience of being a Mother to create the unique baby, toddler and pre-school signing classes. These were theinitial classes set up that established Musical Hands as a Business in Crawley.
