Based in the western lake district valley of Wasdale, Cumbria, my interest in Taiji and massage has grown out of the organic development within my own lifestyle. This initially started with becomingvegetarian when still a teenager in the 1980's. By 1990 I had taken up fell walking and rock climbing, however, the major change in lifestyle came about in 1995 when I started to learn and to practice Taiji, implementing Taiji's many lessons into my daily life.

After qualifying as a fitness instructor in 2005 working both in the UK and abroad, I became aware of how we adapt our bodies in activities to protect muscles that have weakened, fatigued ortightened. I started to move into core muscle building programmes such as Swiss ball and Pilates and continued my research into muscle performance. In turn, this took me on the path to massage. I now specialise in treatments such as Neuromuscular Re-education (NMR) and Soft Tissue Release (STR).

The name Willow came quickly, very prevalent in our beautiful county. However so many organisations and businesses had Willow in their title. Then I remembered Willow Bark, and recalled its' useswhich dates back thousands of years, to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC) when patients' were advised to chew on the bark to reduce fever and inflammation. Willow bark, used throughout the centuries in China and Europe, and which continues to be used today for the treatment of pain.
I was born and bred in London from German and Iranian parents where I got the earliest possible education in massage, sat behind my mother on the back of the sofa giving her massage as she watchedtelevision. I did this for years, probably til I was too big to sit on the back of the sofa, earning 1p a minute. As a child I mistakenly thought that if I worked an hour i'd get a pound until I was corrected that there were only 60 minutes in an hour.
